Brava Theater would be the house of the absolutely staged, Bay Space premiere of Larry the Musical-the first Filipino American musical concerning the lifetime of labor chief, Larry Itliong.
Created by a Filipino American artistic staff led by Gayle Romasanta, Author and Government Producer, and Bryan Pangilinan, Composer and Government Producer, Larry the Musical is predicated on the e book Journey for Justice: The Lifetime of Larry Itliong, by the late historian Dr. Daybreak Mabalon and Gayle Romasanta.
The assistant director underneath Cesar Chavez when the United Farm Staff (UFW) was created, Larry Itliong organized and led protests for equal pay and dignified dwelling circumstances for farm and cannery staff all through the West Coast and Alaska from the Nineteen Thirties to when the UFW was created in 1966. Because the musical unfolds, Itliong’s story as an excellent labor organizer involves life, shedding gentle on the Filipino American neighborhood who formed Itliong’s management as a 15-year-old to his posthumous recognition in Labor Worldwide’s Corridor of Fame, and the proclamation of “Larry Itliong Day,” by the State of California in 2022.
