Net Summit CEO Paddy Cosgrave Resigns In Wake Of Feedback On Israel-Hamas Battle – Deadline1 min read

Paddy Cosgrave, the CEO and cofounder of annual tech convention Net Summit, has resigned after his feedback on the Israel-Hamas struggle led Alphabet, Meta, and Amazon to cancel their participation.

“Sadly, my private feedback have turn out to be a distraction from the occasion, and our crew, our sponsors, our startups and the individuals who attend,” Cosgrave stated in an announcement on Saturday.

Earlier, Cosgrave expressd his private opposition to Israel’s counterattacks in Gaza on his social media accounts.

“To repeat: Struggle crimes are struggle crimes, even when dedicated by allies & must be known as out for what they’re,” Cosgrave stated on X. “I can’t relent.”

His remarks triggered cancellations from Net Summit attendees like Meta, Alphabet, Amazon and others. This 12 months’s convention is scheduled for Nov. 13 to Nov. 16 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The day after he posted on X, Cosgrave apologized on Net Summit’s weblog. He wrote that the timing of his feedback “induced profound damage.”

“What is required at the moment is compassion, and I didn’t convey that,” Cosgrave stated.
